A custom WordPress storefront for a Brussels gift-basket company, selling personalised fruit and gift hampers to both businesses and individuals.
Melting Pom delivers fruit baskets, local produce, and gift hampers — to companies and to individuals alike. Its signature is personalisation: customers compose their own baskets, and the same shop has to serve very different B2B and B2C buyers.
The challenge
One storefront, two audiences. Corporate buyers ordering in volume and individuals buying a single gift expect different things from the same catalogue — and every basket can be personalised, so the product model had to stay flexible without becoming confusing.
What we built
Delivered at Cherry Pulp on a custom WordPress foundation:
- A bespoke theme and product presentation for personalisable fruit and gift baskets
- A catalogue that serves B2B and B2C from the same store
- Editorial and merchandising structures the team could maintain themselves
My role
I handled the implementation end to end — building the WordPress backend (custom post types, product logic, admin) and the frontend theme on top of it.
The interesting part
One catalogue, two very different buyer expectations. A B2B client ordering corporate gift hampers regularly has completely different needs from an individual buying a one-off personalised gift — and both had to feel at home in the same storefront without the product model becoming a tangle of special cases. The custom post types and product logic in WordPress had to be flexible enough to support personalised basket composition while staying maintainable for a non-technical team.
Outcome
Melting Pom got a storefront that matches how it actually sells — personalised baskets, to businesses and individuals — and that its own team can keep running.
